VACCINATION
At Treacy and Sheehan we have tailored a vaccination programme in accordance with the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. Most newborns are protected by antibodies passed through the milk from mother to puppies/kittens. This is called passive immunity, which goes between 6 – 12 weeks of age. Vaccination may not work until these antibodies have weaned. We recommend vaccination at 6 – 8 weeks and second booster at 11 – 12 weeks, followed by a parvovirus injection at 16 weeks of age. Subsequent vaccinations are given yearly.

SURGERY
All routine surgeries are generally performed Monday to Friday. However we are available 7 days a week for emergency procedures. Patients are admitted early on the morning of their surgery. However pets can be dropped off the day before surgery and picked up the day following surgery. We use the latest surgical equipment, because there is nothing more important than your pets safety. All patients revieve a full physical examination before any sedation/anaesthetic agents are administered. For your pets safety we offer bloods tests before surgery, Pre anaesthetic blood tests may detect any abnormalities that may complicate surgery. These tests also help us use the best anaesthetic protocol, that is specifically tailored to your pets needs. We provide gaseous anaesthesia to our patients, which involves placement of a tube into the wind pipe providing oxygen throughout the procedure. Our team are dedicated to the provision of a gold standard sedation/anaesthesia. We use the latest monitoring equipment providing pulse oximetry and blood pressure monitoring. Our aim is to minimize any stress or discomfort associated with surgical procedures. All patients receive a double combination of pain relief. Most owners are surprised at how bright their pets appear upon discharge, later on the day of surgery.
